Difference Between HIV and AIDS

AIDS on the other hand stands for ‘acquired immune deficiency syndrome’. It is the late stage or the advanced stage of HIV disease.

There’s only one way to show if you have HIV – and that is by getting tested for the virus – Human Immunodeficiency Virus. AIDS on the other hand cannot be tested for as it is an accumulation of different kinds of illness which differ from person to person.
So yes, HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system and AIDS is a term that can only be used when HIV has caused severe damage to the human immune system.
